30th Annual Tumbleweed Music Festival

Now in its 30th year, the Tumbleweed Music Festival is an annual, free, family-friendly celebration of acoustic folk music, crafts, and culture in Richland.

Presented by the Three Rivers Folklife Society (3RFS), the annual three-day folk festival, one of Tri-Cities’ longstanding annual events, returns to Richland on the ﬁrst weekend of September, featuring over 100 free performances by local musicians and other performers from across the Pacific Northwest. Hosted along the banks of the Columbia River on Labor Day Weekend, the event invites folk fans of all ages to celebrate the end of summer as they sing and dance to sea chanteys, bluegrass, blues, Celtic music, and other spirited acoustic performances.

About The Tumbleweed Music Festival

Now in its 30th year, the Tumbleweed Music Festival is a free, open-air community celebration of acoustic music held each Labor Day weekend. The festival kicks off with a complimentary “Alternative Folk” concert featuring high‑energy performers across a variety of acoustic styles. Throughout the rest of the weekend, performances and workshops take place every 45 minutes on four outdoor stages, two indoor stages, and in two dedicated workshop rooms.

A beloved highlight is the annual “Jane Titland Memorial Songwriting Contest,” in which songwriters submit original works inspired by the festival’s theme. For 2026, the theme is “Tumbleweed – Thirty Years By The River.”
