Impacto en el tráfico

With a single day of racing, road closures will only impact the morning hours on Sunday, September 21.
Getting Around on Race Day
Moving 2,500 cyclists through a course that spans 56 miles across a community is quite a feat. Navigating vehicle traffic around the course is even trickier. The bike portion of the IRONMAN race is like a big parade of fit athletes and it lasts most of the morning. But the course is well marked, intersections are controlled, and alternative routes are available for motorists. If you need to drive somewhere, the most important step is a little pre-planning.
Three key areas to be aware of
George Washington Way sees heavy bike usage from about 6:55 AM to 12:45 PM. Don’t panic though, most lanes will stay open! But seriously, between 6:55 AM and 12:45 PM, this area will be busier than a coffee shop on Monday morning. Plan ahead and save yourself the headache.
Queensgate area will have cyclists cruising through from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Perfect time for that second cup of coffee at home!
West Richland top of Belmont/Paradise to Bombing Range/Van Giesen joins the party from 8:06 AM to 12:35 PM.

The Good News
After 1:00 PM, it’s back to business as usual! The roads will be clear, and you can resume your normal driving adventures.
Remember, the bike portion uses “rolling closures.” Think of it like a wave passing through (a big wave). Roads reopen shortly after the last cyclist pedals past each section, so you won’t be stuck forever!
This event brings millions of dollars into our community. It showcases our destination in a healthy, positive way, and over time everyone benefits. Plan ahead to make race day as stress-free as possible for everyone - athletes AND drivers alike. Thanks for being awesome and sharing the road!
